Now What?

I’m working on the next book – I’ve got about 57,000 unedited words, and it’s probably 1/3 done – maybe a bit more. Then comes the editing where I attempt to remove all the stuff that I find fascinating. Generally speaking, the author’s enthusiasm for something may be a good indication of something that distracts from the story. Well, at least in my case it does. If things go well, editing will remove ten to thirty thousand words. Yes, it is a bit like pulling your own teeth with a pair of pliers.

I’m also digging into marketing. Have I mentioned that I don’t like marketing? I suspect I don’t like it because I’m not good at it.

I too am a gun person. my first .45-70 was a trapdoor springfield(and not my only .45-70) so I had to read about your guns. I’m not a prepper, getting too old for it. but good story, good people and yes, I was a photo bug for a while(but couldn’t make any real money with it either). I’d like to read your next one in the serious.
I was up in that area many years ago so it wasn’t totally unknown to me.(kinfolk and friends). and yes, I’ve shot “cowboy”, IDPA. etc. and you did say something about my airplane, I flew my own Cherokee 235 for 10 years. (I put about 650 hours on it, myself) I loved that plane. No ham radio, but a halicrafter radio for listing to airplane and boats on the ship channel(south east TExas on the coast). I know it takes about a year to write a story(ask me now I know this) I had a 80,000 word out line for my story!!! and 2,000 words a day is a bunch. so get to work. 🙂
e-mail only works for me. too many guns, chemical plants, motorcycles, airplanes, shipayrds etc.
